Hi all

Well time has passed and tilting seat Pythons are now at Tilt#6 , however it works very well.

It is narrow track = 60cm
High seat = 40cm
Wheel base = 104cm

It stands without a tilt lock and is easy ...

However not impossible :D

I can ride it easily with just a single thumb on the top of the handle bars.

I can now ride it small distances with no hands , e.g to look @ a text or take off gloves hat etc.

With my Python trike I could ride no hands for as long as I wanted and eat/send text ...

I came here looking for advice on building and ' improved ' FlevoTrike.

I then bought myself a very used/damaged FlevoTrike , and now have enough parts for assembly.

However in the mean time I have build a tilting Python trike that works very well :D

Does a Flevo bike/trike suffer from high speed stability issues as I have described ?

The Python's problems with this issue are very noticeable when you are not pedaling.

Even without the large frightening oscillation's it has a weave from side to side when free wheeling at speed.

Pythons suffer from instability at speed a weave that cannot easily be controlled when all steering is done by leg, it if cannot be caught early the oscillations become bigger and can result in a crash.[ rider-induced oscillation. ]

Yes current tilt axis is horizontal as Eric's Flevotrike.

I suspect your assumptions are based on behaviour you witness whist riding those not inconsiderable km :D

I to am doing that as best I can to figure out what is happening , or asking when the answer to me is not obvious , km ...

Negative trail is like a ball in a valley. Good to very slow speed. Hard mass centralize.
Positive trail is like a ball on a top of hill. Good to very high speed, when centrifugal force beats the tilting mass.
Zero trail is neutral, ball on flat. Not react to speed.

When I first built it I added a second damper to reduce the yaw I was getting from only having one elastomer and the rod end giving 3 axis of rotation ?

Ok thanks for the explanation , Zero tilt trail equals neutral handling and does not change as speed does.

Looks tricky to implement on the prototype ?

I am struggling to guide it with my feet only and do not feel safe when on a path only 30cm wider than the trike and 60km ...

The picture shows that you have long (170mm) cranks.
:D In nojapyöräfoorumi we have subdivision "church of the short cranks" and we have a mission to spread the gospel of short cranks. :D (don't take this really seriously)
You reach the pedals easily and many other benefits. :wink:
