Mahtavaa kansainvälistä kuuluisuutta. :D

Kaikki on kuitenkin suhteellista. "la petite ville de Jyväskylä" Jyväskylä on kirjoittajan mielestä pikku kylä. Mitähän olisi kirjoittanut Vaajakoskesta.

Toimii myös toisin päin. Ranskassa on kuntia, joissa ei ole yhtään asukasta

Käänsin jutun Translate Googlella englanniksi:

The Finn who invented extraordinary bikes

Finland's Sakari Holma has combined his passion for DIY and cycling to invent models that suit all terrains and people. Convinced that his ideas are a common good, he puts online the plans of prototypes made, about thirty to date

While the wind blows over the small town of Jyväskylä, 300 km north of Helsinki, Sakari Holma, 80 years old next autumn, rushes to put a last element to his very latest invention: a bike to four places. "The effort is shared, says his daughter Maija, who came to help with the translation. It's great for seniors, the opportunity to get some fresh air and be together. In addition, the design is very cool, it's like having a party on his bike! "
Exhibited at the municipal library in the middle of other creations made by the people of the region, all amateurs, his red bike throne in the center of the room. His hood gives him the air of tuk-tuk. Depending on the physical conditions of the cyclists, it is possible to pedal or rest - everyone has their own brakes and gear changes. Holma also plans to add an electric motor in case there is only one person left, but he has not yet had time to assemble it.

Sakari Holma Mustache and shaggy white hair, dressed in a comfortable jog, sandals and socks, the inventor pulls out his toolbox and places a red box between the two rear seats. "To be able to put the bags while pedaling," he says. This last day of exhibition has a special flavor. Having not yet been able to test his bike on the road - he finished assembling it half an hour before the opening - the inventor will finally be able to check its viability.

A happy bazaar
Meanwhile, Sakari Holma takes us to visit her workshop, fifteen minutes from the center. Of the three models parked in front of his house, his favorite is a purple tricycle. His pilot's cap and his glasses on his nose, he lies down on his bike and grabs the handlebars. Three pedal strokes are enough to give him a smile. In making his demonstration, Sakari becomes a child again.
His first creation was a pedicab when he was little. "It worked well, tells his daughter watching him go around the parking lot. Then he added walls and a roof, because he wanted to use it in bad weather; it has become too heavy to move. As he is still very optimistic, he thought it was at least a nice place to sit although it does not move. Some children in his neighborhood made fun of him saying it was a tin can. Since then, he has always wanted to build such vehicles ... But who move! " Her inspiration, Sakari Holma does not only find it out of a passion for DIY or to have fun, but above all to meet a necessity: to go from one place to another in any weather or physical condition. Born in Rovaniemi, Lapland, he was already cycling to school by - 40 ° C. So he imagined a bike on ski. "But in the city, the streets are covered with sand or salt to avoid slipping on the snow, so it makes it more complicated. In the country, no problem, "commented Maija.
The 100,000 inhabitants of Jyväskylä, where he moved in, are no longer surprised to see him cross the city aboard wacky bikes. Behind one of its models, a logo with an uppercase S replaces the warning triangle. S for Sakari, not Superman! Although, asking him why he makes his bikes, his answer is obvious: "To save the world! The convinced ecologist hopes that each person will have a bike adapted to their needs and desires.
Motivated by research rather than by success
The next Sakari project: a bike where it would be easier to sit for the elderly. "Because it's usually complicated to ride a bike with age," he says. "It's someone who devotes his time to others," adds his daughter. He teaches computer courses for seniors or supports children in difficulty at school. "

This former retired architect is motivated by research rather than by success. It takes him about six months to complete a model. It produces three per year, so sometimes two in construction at the same time. Of the thirty that Sakari finished, he sold fifteen in Finland. But do not expect to order: the inventor does not like to do the same thing twice. "People buy me the bikes I've already made. If someone wants to copy me, by cons, no problem! On the contrary, I am happier. My ideas do not belong to me, they are a common good. Sakari shares all her plans on the internet, via her Flickr account or with videos on YouTube.
Back at the downtown library, Sakari Holma, helped by her friends, tries to get her four-seater bike out of the building. A task that proves more difficult than expected. By slaloming between the works on display, it is impossible to reverse everything: a real labyrinth. On the sidewalk, under the gray sky of that cold spring day, the wind whistling in the ears, Sakari gives the last keystrokes, squeezes the last screws and grease the chains. They are four on the bike, Sakari Holma holds the handlebars. They start, we do not stop them anymore! The old man is happy. After ten minutes of stroll, the last work of Sakari found its place on the parking lot of a friend, while waiting for the next exit. The tireless inventor can devote himself to the next projec
