World Recumbent Bicycle Day 7/7/2025 !
On 7/7/1933 Francis Faure brought recumbent bikes to the world's attention by setting the hour record. He rode a Mochet VeloCar and beat an hour record that had stood for 20 years (previously set by Oscar Egg on 8/18/1914). The new record and the radical design of the bike prompted the UCI to ban recumbent bikes (a ban which is still in place today) and restrict bicycle design for all future competitions.
So go out and celebrate World Recumbent Day. Ride and be proud of the role recumbents play in the world of cycling. Maybe snub your nose at the UCI while you're at it.

Maailman nojapyöräilypäivä 7.7.2025!
7.7.1933 Francis Faure kiinnitti nojapyörät maailman tietoisuuteen tekemällä tunnin ennätyksen. Hän ajoi Mochet VeloCarilla ja rikkoi 20 vuotta voimassa olleen tunnin ennätyksen (jonka Oscar Egg oli aiemmin tehnyt 18.8.1914). Uusi ennätys ja pyörän radikaali muotoilu saivat UCI:n kieltämään nojapyörät (kielto, joka on edelleen voimassa) ja rajoittamaan polkupyörien suunnittelua kaikissa tulevissa kilpailuissa.
Joten mene ulos ja juhli Maailman nojapyöräilypäivää. Aja ja ole ylpeä nojapyörien roolista pyöräilyn maailmassa. Ehkä kannattaa olla nöyrä UCI:lle samalla.
